The 20th anniversary of Consorcio Madroño
The Consortium of Universities of the Autonomous Region of Madrid and the UNED for Library Cooperation (known as the Madroño Consortium, or “Consorcio Madroño”) was created in 1999 with the goal of increasing scientific production at its member universities, improving the quality of library services and promoting plans for cooperation amongst its members. Since then, cooperation, quality and support for research have comprised the entity’s identifying trademarks. Similarly, it is the only Spanish consortium of libraries certified in accordance with the ISO 9001 quality standard.
This year, when it is celebrating twenty years of existence, Consorcio Madroño has led to its initiative to hold the day titled “University libraries facing the challenges of the future” where new topics and challenges are arising, including:
- The digital transformation at universities
- The commitment to Open Science
- A new paradigm in teaching and learning in digital environments
- Support for research beyond just access to essential information resources
- The development of new services to meet new needs within the university community
